Terms of Use

Boeklet helps members put physical books into circulation, request books from one another, and arrange to hand them over in person. We provide the platform; we are not a party to the exchange of any book between members and we do not own, store, ship, or inspect any books.

You need an account to borrow or share. Keep your login secure and give accurate information. You must be at least 16 years old. You are responsible for activity on your account.

Hand-offs happen face to face between members. You arrange and attend these meetings at your own risk.Use good judgement: meet in public places, and decide for yourself who you meet. Boeklet does not vet members and is not responsible for anyone's conduct, for the condition of any book, or for anything that happens during a meeting.

Credits are an in-app mechanism to keep sharing fair: you earn them when books you put into circulation reach new readers, and spend them to borrow. Credits are not money. They have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred for cash, or redeemed outside Boeklet, and we may adjust the credit rules as the service evolves.

Books circulate among members; a holder is a temporary custodian, not the owner of the platform's catalogue. When you put a book into circulation you agree to pass it on when someone borrows it. Any dispute about a specific book is between the members involved.

You agree not to:

• break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
• game the credit system, create fake accounts or fake hand-offs;
• harass other members or post abusive, hateful, or illegal content in messages, notes, or posts;
• disrupt or attack the service.

We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules or harm the community.

You keep ownership of the notes, posts, and messages you create. By posting them you grant Boeklet a licence to store and display them to other members as part of the service (for example, your margin notes shown to other readers of the same book). Don't post content you don't have the right to share.

Boeklet is provided “as is”. We do our best to keep it running but we don't guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or that a book you want will be obtainable.

To the extent permitted by law, Boeklet is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss or damage to books, or for anything arising from interactions or meetings between members. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Dutch law.

You can stop using Boeklet and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and the courts of Amsterdam have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.

We may update these terms. We will change the date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Boeklet means you accept the updated terms.
